Community Health Fair Event Helping the Uninsured
West Palm Beach, Fl -- Dozens of doctors volunteered their time Saturday to help hundreds of low income families. And although this is an annual event, these doctors take part in low cost healthcare all year long. They volunteer their time and provide free healthcare to more than 600 families. The community health fair came together as a three way partnership between the "T" Leroy Jefferson Medical Society, Jamaicans of the Palm Beaches and the Foundcare Health Center. Each organization committed resources to help the nearly 250-thousand people living in Palm Beach County with out health insurance. Bill Quinn Director of Health Services at Foundcare Health Center tells CBS12 reporter Tasha Martinez "The cost of service is based on household income, so if people have no insurance, we ask for a minimum of 20-dollars, but if families aren't able to pay for it, we will still see them." Other organizations at Saturday’s event also offered information about how to get low cost or free healthcare throughout the year.
